Yup! Me too! I try to not take pain meds and do use alternative methods, but it is a constant battle. Some days, I just have to - a lot of days... This must be my month to deal with medical. Because I did take radical preventive action, I got injured last month in my neck/head and spent most of a month recovering, now I've seriously torqued my left knee and may have torn the miniscus and am surrendering to going to an orthopedist to get xrays/mri and maybe cortizone - Auggghhh! Ok, anyway, chronic pain (any pain) wears you down, especially soft tissue pain like Fibro. You guys really have my sympathy!

Countrybelle, how is the Miramex working?

P.S. I purchased and have been starting to use a CD called "Sit and Be Fit for Fibromyalgia." It uses a small ball for range of motion, rolling motions and mild stretching etc. It is helping. Has anyone else used this?

Be well all!

I understand the pain med thing. Once I take mine in 10 min Im feeling it and out I go, and with the other 2 in thirty minutes I'm out
So when I take them I make sure I have nothing else to do that day, because I am hit afterwards. (lol)

Does anyone know anything about Miramex? I will look it up later but want to know if anyone has personal knowledge of it. I started it last night. I had a very hard night, which may or may not have to do with the new med. Right now I just took some pain pills and gonna lie down cause hubby will be calling about 9 and if I'm not better he's carrying me to the ER to get a shot for my head and lower back. I don't want to do that cause I'll be out until tomorrow if they give me that shot. lol

So, if you don't hear from me you know why. lol
I'm really stubborn though, I probably wont go anyway. lol

PostSubject: Oops! I meant Prednizone not Sulfa   Q and A exchange Icon_minitimeSun Jan 31, 2010 3:49 am

Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed OK, this is what drugs did to me last night - loop-de-loop. The part about Sulfa is true, but the part right after 22 years isn't - I meant to say Prednizone, not Sulfa. Yes, I'm allergic to Sulfa, but it's the Prednizone that stays in your system and weight and allergies... Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed I hope no one went running to their doctor with Sulfa on the tongue - I'm so sorry about the misinformation! Now Prednizone - don't get me started again...

Your on it Shamashe. I forgot all about the weight gain part. And I didn't know about the sulfa staying in your system once you were done with it. That makes me wonder if I need to get some tests run to see if it is still in my system. Interesting thought Shamashe. Glad you posted it. It's really nice of Trina to put this thread here. Maybe all of us can share some pointers or thoughts that will help us all, in our day to day struggles with health issues. Hope you feel better soon. Seems like you are following doctors instructions to me. And sometimes venting is the best medicine. Q and A exchange Icon_biggrin

Hi Countrybelle and Mohala, Only on for a few minutes here as still dealing with this concussion, but here goes.

Glad you like the post. It was my plan to respond with med stats for some things as I can and just to provide a place to say ouch if needed! But as usual, it looks like you guys have made the energy of this thread into a place of loving perspective, for which I thank you as I find myself in need of that these days.

Even though I may write a few medical issues here, my own healing is that of continually moving through and moving on with trust and truth and courage and as much grace as I can manifest - always my practice. It allows me to be a better healer, and I say that with all due humility, as all healing is self healing and clearly, I have had to go through it to know of what I say. My compassion is high as are my gifts and yet, recently, I find the need arising to be more self-compassionate to heal, (like the doctor who's a bad patient). Always the reminder to let go, and honor the extraordinary gift I was given to "choose" to come back into my body and life as opposed to staying out and fully crossing over. Pain can, of course, take it's toll and I'm not always quite so benevolent when I'm in pain, but all in all, I recognize what pain is and what life choice I have been given. I will honor my word to manifest light until I really do die. Waxing esoteric tonight! Point is to remember to walk my talk, stay lightened up and listen to my body! And yes, countrybelle, not to be focused on my health :-))

Unfortunately, my own experience with Sulfa is negative and I have a high allergy to it, which I didn't know at the time. That, along with and Penicillin = anaphylaxis time! It took me 22 years to recover from the effects of Sulfa in my system. I lost half of my hair, had future skin issues, activated a few DNA related diseases for 10 years, probably early menopause? and a 100 lb. weight gain in 3 months! Yes, you heard that right! I have found in recent years that Sulfa goes into the brain tissue and leaches away the systemic reservoirs of things like, oh, serentonin, dopamine, etc. and it doesn't leave easily. Getting those levels back without drugs is quite the process, did I mention the post-Sulfa allergy propensity? To pretty much everything! It been a journey for me to finally see medical evidence of what I as telling people 30 years ago. Perhaps a good drug for some, but not in my opinion for most because of the long range effects. Please pardon my sarcasm here, sore subject, just venting.

I'll come back on when I can with info - not in this tone - about water, gluten, dehydration and other stuff. Thanks for listening tonight!

Hi Candy
I was prone to bladder infections. And everytime you turned around I was taking Bactrim for it.When I finally got with a specialist he wanted me to take it eveyday.Well that stuff is rough on your system and you have to me careful that the sulfa I believe it was doesn't crystalize in your kidneys. That's when I started the practice of drinking so much water each day and still do. But it got to the point whereas I became allergic to the sulfa so I can't use that medication anymore (can't say I miss it) Even with all of the side effects it is a good medication just not for some people. I hope things work out for the best with you.I think that as long as we listen to our bodies, sometimes we don't even need to wait on a doctors opinion because we already know. And that's when we just use common sense and do as you did, read up on our medications, and really see what they are about, and what they are really doing to and for us.

Great idea Shamashe! One suggestion I have is to immediately look up on the computer any new prescriptions you are given and print out what side effects to look for. I have been having a time of it in the past couple of weeks getting over one of my meds. I have taken Bactrime every night for a year. It's funny but, I decided to look up my prescriptions to see which one might of been adding to my insomnia. When I read the side effects I was shocked. I had quit buying potatoes because it hurt so much in my hands to peel them. I had reoccuring colds. No matter how cold it got I would feel warm. It also causes you to be tired. In most cases side effects from prescribed drugs is very rare. The more educated we become about our own health the better. Don't dwell on your health! Remember good health is a balance of physical, mental, and spiritual well being. Candy

This thread is a place where you can post questions and/or concerns about health and wellness as well as give and receive answers.

You can also post results of your own experiences and knowledge, offer your opinion, and provide "how to" options.

This is NOT meant to be "medical advice" as you would get from a doctor, as there are legal restrictions.

It IS meant to be a place where you can exchange information and post facts, articles, or links to research or resources.

Remember that this is a public forum, so have awareness of your content!

Well wishes to all!
