Gavin Murphy Is Born

I have been keeping record of Emilie's pregnancy as much as I can. I still have to get the new pics up but anyone who wants is more than welcome to look at it and sign the guestbook.

Thank you. I hope to be a great grandma. I want my daughter to remember these things later. I want to keep updating it as long as I can but after he's born and I put his birthday, weight and stuff then I'm gonna tell her about it. I hope she will like it.

Going to the Dr. today, this afternoon. We'll see if she has dilated or effaced any. She had not last Thursday.

I will update this evening of the status.

Emilie is now dilated 2 cm and 50% effaced. Hooray!

Dr. told her to come to Labor and Delivery at 5:30 am on Monday for induction. We are excited but why are all the doctors inducing these days instead of letting it happen naturally the way God intended?

Don't get me wrong, I am sooo ready for my grandson to be here. It's just that when they induce it tends to make labor longer and harder. I just am gonna hate to see her go through that.

I told her that she needs to spend the weekend walking to try to go naturally. If there is any truth to the full moon connection then maybe she will go Saturday....after the baby shower, of course.
I told her she can not have the baby before the shower because one of our games is to guess mommy's tummy size. lol

Anyway, that's where we are.

Anyone have any tips for naturally inducing labor?

I'm pretty sure you spelled medically right. lol

We have heard a few like castor oil, sex, evening primrose oil, and squats. I know first hand that castor oil only cleans you out from BOTH ends. lol
Primrose Oil takes time they say, and squats...she laughed at me. lol

I'm just gonna make her walk all I can get her to. I just hope that in the next 3 days she goes on her own. I'm gonna pray also.

My grandson made his appearance into the world today at 1:11

He weighed in at 7 and a half pounds, and is 19 and a half inches long.

I am so tired I can't see straight but will be back on later to tell you all more.

As wore out as I am, I can't sleep to save my life. lol

We got to the hospital at 5:30 this morning.
She was still only dilated to 2, and 50% effaced.

At 6:30 they started her pitocen.
At 8:20 she was still at 2, and then 60% effaced. Dr. Booker broke her water.

At 10 she was 4 cm...barely but contractions were back to back one minute apart, and really intense so she was given her epidural.
They checked her just after giving her the epi (about 15 mins later) and she was nearly 5 cm.

I sent hubby after grandma and to get us some lunch at 11:10. They came in and checked her at 11:20 and she was 8 cm.
(Call hubby to cancel lunch pick up and get grandma and get butt back quick.

At 11:35 she was 10 cm.
At 11:45 we began pushing. DD could not feel the contractions at all. It was very hard to push. They finally cut the epi meds back so she could feel the contractions and the pressure. (12:30)

After about 45 minutes, Gavin was born at 1:11 p.m

This is dd first baby. I could not believe just how fast things went for her. I was expecting to still be there waiting. When I was induced it made my labor longer and harder, and my epi slowed me down bad.

Once her epidural was in, bam she was dilating faster than we could keep up. We had to keep asking the nurse to come check cause she wasn't feeling much but she knew something was feeling 'weird' as she put it. lol

I still can't believe it. I am so jealous. My first labor was 26 hours. She was really only in labor from about 8:20 until 1:11.
I am so happy for her that she did get it done fast though.

How wonderful that this little man has been born.
Please give your daughter and family hugs from me and I'm so glad that the delivery was swift and went well.

Thank you all. I'm so excited. I sure hope they get to come home today.
I have my Dr. appt this morning at 9, then I'm gonna drop by and see about them. If they come home today, I will be able to get some pics posted.

Yes, it is. I have given birth to 5 kids of my own. But coaching my daughter and watching my grandson be born was a totally different experience. I have always been on the other end. It was so amazing.
It was difficult too, watching my daughter go through that. That was really hard. It about killed me. I wanted to get up there and do it for her. I felt so horrible for her.

But I will remember this experience forever. It was so wonderful. Truly a miracle.


They won't come home until tomorrow but I am taking the digital camera up there when I take her some food. (Bless her heart, she is not liking hospital food)

I know, you do feel bad and want to deliver for them. But we're just so happy that they can handle it and have those beautiful children. They are truly a reward to us. And the experience was awesome, believe me you won't ever forget it.

Awwww! The bottom pic is precious! Looks at the hands on this little guy! Is his mom or dad tall? What a sweet face.

I was never able to have kids, but I did get the privilege of coaching a friend through having hers and being there in the delivery. I can honestly say it was an awesome and true miracle to witness a new life come forth - I will never forget it!
